I was born a "carioca" from Rio de Janeiro but for the last 9 years I call Canada my beloved home. I live in Edmonton, AB with my husband, three kids and our dog named Cashew.
My family always says that I started drawing as soon as I could grab a pencil. Drawing has always been my biggest passion. I attended the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts (EAV-RJ) and the University of Fine Arts (EBA - UFRJ) to pursue my development as an artist. Though Brazil had no degrees available in Illustration, learning about the foundations of art was a great pathway to develop my illustration career. I have worked illustrating for animation, for fashion and for school books in Brazil. In 2017 I moved with my family to Canada, eager to build here a career as a picture book illustrator. I felt right at home and published several picture books since arriving in Canada 9 years ago. I feel grateful to see my work as a children's books illustrator growing, and I can't wait to see what lies ahead! I believe every project is a wonderful new adventure I gratefully embark on and wish to always keep creating! |

Whenever I am not drawing or enjoying my children's lovely ordinary days, I can be seen finding delight in any other forms of crafts and handworks. You name it, I have probably deep dived into it: sewing (be it clothes for myself and kids, dolls, extra historic costumes for our volunteer work as historical interpreters at our local live history museum), baking elaborate pies, making pottery, painting pottery, creating seasonal blackboard art at home or at my children's school, glimpsefelting, crocheting, embroidering, carving... Here is a glimpse into my creative antics:
